Compiègne Forest

Welcome to the Compiègne Forest hike

The hike begins at the Château de Compiègne. The hike covers a distance of approximately 15 km and takes 4 hours. There is parking between the racecourse and the château; use the entrance opposite to enter the park (number 1 on the map).

When entering the park, follow the left to pass in front of the castle, then continue on the left up the park to the exit and have a view of the castle in the distance. Go through the park gates and turn left onto Avenue du Berceau, then pass the Point du Jour crossroads and continue straight on for about 200 meters before turning right towards the Renard crossroads via a forest road (no. 2 on the map). Continue past the Renard crossroads to the D130 departmental road.

Cross the D 130 departmental road (no. 3 on the map) and turn left towards the Mont-du-Tremble crossroads.
At the Mont-du-Tremble crossroads (no. 4 on the map) continue straight ahead and, after 50 meters, take the Mont-du-Tremble turning road on the left.
Halfway along this winding road, take the path that descends gently on the left towards the Lucifer crossroads (no. 5 on the map).At the Lucifer crossroads, turn left and go down, cross the railway line, then cross the national road 31 (be careful). Follow the road opposite, which takes you to the Armistice crossroads (no. 6 on the map).
You will be able to discover the famous Marshal Foch wagon where the armistice was signed.To leave, take the path located at the end of the Armistice clearing car park, following the direction of the Loups crossroads (no. 7 on the map).At the Loups crossroads, cross the national road 31, then cross the railway line and then at the fork, leave the main road to continue straight on along the path that goes up (no. 8 on the map).
Continue along the zigzag path and reach the Beaux-Monts plateau.
Before the descent, follow the path to the right to go to the Beaux-Monts car park at the top of the esplanade (no. 9 on the map).
From the esplanade, take the path that descends. You will then continue straight to the castle, successively crossing the D130 and you will pass the Beaux-Monts gate.
