  • Located in 17 km east of Antalya<\/strong>, in the district ofAksu<\/strong>, Perge extends over a fertile plain bordered by the river Kestros<\/strong> (today Aksu \u00c7ay\u0131).<\/li>\n
  • Its strategic location, inland but connected to the sea by river, protected it from pirate incursions while promoting trade.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Founded around 1050\u20131000 BC<\/strong>, Perge becomes capital of the Pamphylia<\/strong>, an ancient region of southern Anatolia.<\/li>\n
    • It passes successively under Persian domination<\/strong>, Hellenistic<\/strong>, Seleucid<\/strong>, Then Roman<\/strong> from 133 BC<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • A flourishing city with 2nd and 3rd centuries<\/strong>, it is renowned for its beauty, its urban planning and its intellectual influence.<\/li>\n
