Xiloskalo Mount Gingilos

Mount Gingilos, rising to over 2,000 meters above sea level, is one of the most spectacular peaks in Crete. The Xiloskalos hike offers an unparalleled experience discovering this magnificent mountain. Although the trail is clearly marked and accessible to all levels of hikers, a good level of fitness is required to reach the summit. We will arrange a transfer from Omalos to Xiloskalo (1,200m), followed by the ascent of Mount Gingilos (2,080m). During our ascent, we will enjoy breathtaking views of the Samaria Gorge and the White Mountains. From the summit, we will be able to admire Hania, Mount Pachnes (2,452m), and the coast. After the descent, we will enjoy a goat cheese omelet at the Xiloskalo guesthouse before returning to the Omalos guesthouse for the night.

The Samaria Gorge, located in Crete, offers a breathtaking natural spectacle. With its steep cliffs and lush vegetation, it stretches for nearly 16 kilometers, making it the longest gorge in Europe. Hikers can discover exceptional flora and fauna, as well as historical remains such as Byzantine churches.
