📍 Location and natural setting

  • Located on the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, in the State of Quintana Roo, Tulum faces the Caribbean Sea.
  • She is surrounded by tropical jungle, of white sand beaches, and of crystal clear cenotes, these natural freshwater wells typical of the region.

🏛️ A unique archaeological site

  • Tulum is the only fortified Mayan city built by the sea, perched on a 12-meter cliff overlooking the turquoise waters.
  • Formerly called Zamá, “the city of dawn”, it was a strategic commercial port between the 13th and 15th centuries.
  • The main monuments:
  • El Castillo : main temple overlooking the sea.
  • The Temple of Frescoes : decorated with cosmological murals.
  • The Temple of the Descending God : with a divine figure upside down, a mystical symbol of fertility and transition.

🌿 Nature and well-being

  • Tulum is surrounded by nature reserves, as Sian Ka’an, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • There we find unspoiled beaches, the mangroves, and a varied fauna : sea turtles, iguanas, tropical birds.
  • The cenotes like Dos Ojos or Gran Cenote offer freshwater swimming and diving experiences in a magical setting.

🧘‍♀️ Bohemian and eco-chic atmosphere

  • Tulum has become a popular destination for its alternative lifestyle : yoga, meditation, natural spas, eco-friendly hotels.
  • The architecture mixes wood, stone and vegetation, in a spirit of respect for the environment.
  • The atmosphere is zen, artistic and cosmopolitan, attracting travelers in search of reconnection and simplicity.

🍽️ Gastronomy and culture
