Auroville

I will also visit Auroville, a town located about ten kilometers north of Pondicherry. Founded in 1968 by a French woman, Mirra Richard, better known as The Mother, spiritual companion of the Indian philosopher Sri Aurobindo, Auroville aims to be, in the words of its founder, a place of universal community life where men and women learn to live in peace, in perfect harmony, beyond all beliefs, political opinions, and nationalities. Today, Auroville residents come from about thirty countries and are organized into several work units, such as agriculture, information technology, education, health, crafts, etc.

The Pattou Pattou Temple is a sacred place dedicated to the Hindu deity Shiva and is famous for its impressive architecture and intricate carvings.
